Mad Dog Voyager has a
self-leveling (Gimbaled) radar mount
When a boat heels or rolls more than 10 to 15 degrees, a fixed radar
system scans for submarines on one side and
airplanes on the other.
Under sail, or even under power, a boat is seldom less than this
angle.
These radar leveling (Gimbaled) systems offer a unique
solution to this problem. Our
Raymarine radar leveling system is a
hydraulic-dampened, self leveling mount that guarantees the
Raymarine Raydome radar is
level when we are heeling (eg when sailing).
We believe that this type of radar leveling system is a must on any
boat. Because radar is needed in critical
situations – detecting
land mass or traffic while under way in heavy weather, in fog, or at
night - it’s important to know that the view your radar gives you is
as complete and accurate as possible to ensure a safe sailing
experience. The radar leveling system requires no electricity or
power.

Product review:
Excellent system but rating is tarnished by fabrication quality issues
Pros: This is one of the simplest, yet most effective system, we
could find
Cons: The gimbaling and dampening system works excellent, however,
considering the cost of the system, the quality of the rest of the
product was poor and sub-standard. The mounting brackets delivered by
Waltz Manufacturing were poorly built (welded crooked) and required us
to have our own mounting brackets fabricated locally at an additional
cost.
